FAQ

Why choose aromatherapy?

Every treatment is different - in my treatments I draw from a variety of massage techniques and I do not use pre-blended oils. I create a bespoke synergistic blend from up to 71 different essential oils to suit each individual client's physical and physiological needs.

Why choose massage?

Touch is one of the most crucial, yet often underrated, of the senses - all ages benefit from human touch. Massage has been shown to benefit the body on a number of levels because it relaxes and revitalises a weary or ailing body through a reassuring and caring touch. Many studies have proven that massage promotes state of mind and mood-altering serotonin and endorphins. Endorphins are chemicals that affect development in children, as well as, improving emotional and physical well-being in adults. In addition, a massage can be an effective treatment for a range of physical problems and a wonderfully relaxing experience.

What should I expect in a treatment?

You have the choice of having a full body massage, which includes the back, neck and shoulders, legs and feet, arms and hands, abdomen and face or just a one of the selection. You will remove necessary clothing, lie down and the oils will be applied to your skin through massage. Towels will cover areas not being massaged. Bolsters and pillows will be used to make you as comfortable as possible.

How can aromatherapy help in pregnancy?

Aromatherapy is even more important when the heightened sense of smell during pregnancy is taken into consideration. Essential oils can help treat:

•Insomnia and fatigue
•Morning sickness
•Oedema - swelling of the hands and feet
•Mood swings - hormonal changes that produce an ever fluctuating emotional state
•Stretch marks
•Varicose veins

How can aromatherapy help with injuries?

Essential oils are natural healing products. Many over-the-counter remedies for injuries, aches and pains are based on natural plant components (chemical constituents) and are synthetic copies. These copies often contain mineral oils which deprive the muscles and body of vital nutrients. Not good news for the sports pro, or amateur!

"In actuality, the oils exert much of their therapeutic effect through their pharmacological properties and their small molecular size, making them one of the few therapeutic agents to easily penetrate the bodily tissues." -Dr. (rer. nat.) Kurt Schnaubelt, Director of the Pacific Institute of Aromatherapy

Jenny makes bespoke products to help treat and prevent injuries, ease tired and overworked muscles, reduce inflammations and soothe muscular aches and pains.

What makes aromatherapy a bespoke treatment?

A unique blend of oils, every treatment is different, no pre-blended oils that have been sitting around on a shelf. Treatments are designed for the individual.  For example, you have been having pregnancy massage and have found them extremely beneficial and would like to use massage whilst in labour.  Bring your partner in to have a 1to1 lesson labour massage.

How often should I have treatments?

It's up to you how frequently you want to have treatments. Some individuals prefer a weekly massage and others a monthly one, or it may be a one off treat for a birthday. I will make a recommendation for a treatment plan in all cases and especially where there are on-going injuries and you have been referred by your doctor. There is no obligation.

When is it safe to have a pregnancy massage?
From conception, although generally pregnancy massage is recommended from 12 weeks because the risk of miscarriage is significantly reduced; however, this will depend on whether you have received massage frequently before your pregnancy and want to continue to benefit from it or upon advice/consent from your doctor, in which case it is a personal choice. I am happy to speak to/write to your doctor. Your treatment includes a detailed consultation to cover any of your concerns.
